Turning Athlete Success into Career Success
Every athlete knows what it means to commit, compete, and keep showing up—and those same qualities are what make them extraordinary in the workplace.
I’ve coached many former competitive student-athletes, and it’s easy to spot their unique skill set in professional settings. A lifetime of practice, competition, and coaching instills teamwork, motivation, drive, and adaptability—the hallmarks of lifelong athletes.
That mix of discipline and resilience translates powerfully into career success.
I’ve also had the privilege of teaching current athletes in my college classroom. Helping them learn to tell their stories—connecting their athletic experiences to their future careers—has become one of my greatest passions.
In 2024, I was fortunate to join a start-up where these two experiences came together: BluChip.
Senior professionals in finance, sports management, executive recruitment, marketing, and technology—many of us parents and former athletes ourselves - teamed up to create BluChip. Through extensive conversations and research, we saw a clear need for a career development ecosystem built specifically for athletes.
Today, over 1000 athletes from more than 30 states have joined the BluChip network.

BluChip helps student-athletes build strong career profiles, articulate their value to employers, and connect with organizations eager to hire individuals with an athlete’s mindset. The platform includes personalized career tools, a job board, and a network of athletes they can connect with from schools and teams across the country. There are also private groups for athletes from the same school, providing opportunities for mentoring, career guidance, and job leads.
